Longest and Shortest Growing Seasons in Every State
For each state, the place with the longest and the shortest freeze-free season, and the gap between them.
The gap between a state's longest and shortest freeze-free season is widest in California (244 days), Nevada (242 days), Arizona (235 days) and narrowest in Delaware (31), North Dakota (37), South Dakota (44). Only stations with a yearly freeze are counted, so the warmest coastal places of the South, where frost is occasional, are left out.
